Race around the board and be the first to reach the World Football Stars Gold Cup Trophy in the centre of the board! Activate action spaces or land on your opponent to start a Top Trumps Battle. The winner gets a Super Dash Boost!
When one player has all their Tokens in the centre, they win, and the game is over!
Aim of the Game
Be the first player to move all 4 of your Tokens to the Trophy in the centre of the board.
Contents
Game Board, 16 Plastic Tokens, 22 Cardboard Portraits, 22 Top Trumps Cards and 1 Die.
Key board areas include the Bench, Starting Space, Draw Pile, DASH action space, Yellow Card space, Base of the Ladder, Ladder and Trophy at the centre of the board.
Setup
- Starting with the youngest player, then proceeding clockwise, each player takes turns to select a football player to place in each of their Tokens.
- Each player puts all 4 of their Tokens on their home Bench, with the Token colour matching the Bench colour.
- Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a pile beside the board. This is the Draw Pile.
- Optional: ask your music streaming platform to play your favourite football songs!
Note: For a 2-player game, you can play with one or two teams each.
Move
- Roll the die and move one of your Tokens the number of spaces shown, following the arrows. Moving off your Bench and onto the Starting Space counts as one step.
- You can move Tokens off your Bench at any point during the game. You do not need to wait for one Token to reach the Trophy before moving another.
Note: In Dash, rolling a 6 does not allow you to roll again.
Action Spaces
There are 8 action spaces on your path:
-
DASH space: move that Token forward 6 spaces immediately.
-
Yellow Card space: choose one opponent’s Token to attack and move it backwards 6 spaces.
If an opponent’s Token is moved backwards, it may be sent back to its Bench, as Tokens cannot move further back around the board than their Starting Space.
Once you choose which Token to attack, you cannot change your mind. If you touch it, you move it! You cannot attack a Token that is already on a Ladder.
Tip: Be careful which Token you attack. If it lands on a DASH space, it will move forwards again!
If two Tokens of different colours land on the same space, there is a Battle. Battles can be triggered by Dash or Attack actions, so use them wisely.
Sharing Spaces
- Two Tokens of the same colour can occupy a space without a Battle, but no more than two.
- If your Token would land on a space with two Tokens already on it, stop one space early.
- If your Token is sent backwards towards a space with two Tokens on it, stop one space early.
- You can jump over a space with two Tokens on it, but that space still counts as part of your move.
Climb the Ladder
- The Ladder is the final challenge. All your Tokens must reach the centre of the board by climbing the Ladder that matches your Token colour.
- Once one of your Tokens has reached your Ladder, it can no longer be attacked.
- When a Token reaches the base of the Ladder, keep moving using the total number shown on the die.
- You need an exact roll to reach the top of the Ladder. If you roll too high, your Token bounces back down the Ladder by the number of spaces left over.
When one player gets all their Tokens into the centre, they are the winner and the game is over!
Battle
If you land on a space occupied by an opponent’s Token, you must Battle, no matter how you got there.
Note: Battles are always prioritised over Action play. The Action play is applied only after the Battle ends, regardless of the outcome.
- When a player lands on a space occupied by an opponent, both players draw a Top Trumps card from the Draw Pile.
- The player landing on the occupied space starts the Battle by choosing a category and reading out the stat from their card.
- The player who was already on the space reads out the corresponding stat from their card.
- The player with the highest value wins. Put both cards to the side.
- The winner gets a Super Dash and immediately moves their victorious Token forward 10 spaces. The loser stays where they are.
- If there is a draw, start a new Battle. Both players draw another card and use the same stat category.
- If the post-Battle move lands on another occupied space, it triggers a new Battle.
Tip: You cannot battle against yourself, but you can use Battles to move quickly around the board.
If the Draw Pile runs out, take all cards from the side, shuffle them and form a new Draw Pile.
